Laura and Minnie McDuff first met when Laura (an accomplished scuba diver) was trying to locate the Heart of the Ocean collar, believed lost (along with the necklace) with the Titanic almost a century ago. Recognizing the collar as her own, Minnie came forward claiming to be the original West Highland White depicted in a drawing of the dazzling canine bauble. Though Minnie was later found to be clinically delusional, she and Laura somehow found enough common ground to become close friends. Minnie is always happy to regale admirers with tales of her friends at the Algonquin Round Table, or that one time she met Teddy Roosevelt.
